Governor Signs Amendment to MBT
Public Act 30 of 2008 became the most recent amendment to the Michigan Business Tax (MBT) when it was signed into law by the Governor on March 13th. Among other changes, the Act will exempt captive insurance companies from the MBT and instead impose a tax on direct premiums written and reinsurance premiums.
