Since 2000, the MACPA has recruited members to volunteer for the Junior Achievement Accounting Blitzes. MACPA volunteers spend up to a day in the classroom teaching kindergarten through eighth grade students the principles of business using lesson plans created by Junior Achievement (JA). The Accounting Blitzes reach students in communities across the state, including Detroit, Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Flint, Saginaw and Lansing. Score One for Financial LiteracyCPAs across the country are pledging to help increase the financial literacy of Americans. By teaming up with Junior Achievement, the MACPA gives our members the opportunity to spread the word on financial literacy to elementary student across Michigan. The Accounting Blitzes are one of the Association's proudest efforts to contribute to this goal. |

“It is all about making a difference. It doesn’t matter how much money you make, how hard you work, how successful you become or how you display success, if you do not touch the life of another, you are not yet a success.”
- Gail Sparks Pitts, Controller
at Oakland Community College
"To me, being a CPA does sound like a fun job. You get to take care of people's money and I love working with money."
