Accounting Aid Society Helps Those Who Need It Most

Volunteer for MACPA/Accounting Aid Society Tax Assistance Program.

As the only free comprehensive tax assistance and counseling program of its kind for our low-income neighbors in southeast Michigan, Accounting Aid works to ensure that low-income families and individuals recapture the federal and state tax refunds and tax credits they deserve.

The money refunded to our neighbors is an essential resource in their fight against poverty, provides increased financial security and promotes economic self-sufficiency.  In addition, Accounting Aid's free tax services provide an alternative to high-cost, low-value commercial tax preparation, preserving the value of refunds and credits returned to clients.

The MACPA, in conjunction with its Communications Task Force, participates in the Accounting Aid Society's Tax Assistance Program each year.

The MACPA "adopts" one of Accounting Aid Society's sites for the program, Focus:HOPE in Detroit, for three Saturdays near the beginning of tax season. The MACPA furnishes the site with volunteers to ensure a successful execution of the program. In addition, the MACPA provides complimentary CPE credit to all volunteers who attend the Accounting Aid Society's training sessions.
