Michigan CPA Association President Peggy A. Dzierzawski Inducted into Hall of Fame
TROY, Mich., October 2, 2006 – Peggy A. Dzierzawski, CAE, has exemplified the best in Association Management and is hereby inducted into the Michigan Association Hall of Fame. The Michigan Society of Association Executives (MSAE) inducted Dzierzawski, who is president & CEO of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), on September 21, 2006, at the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth during MSAE’s annual Diamond Awards Dinner.
The Michigan Association Hall of Fame honors individuals who have excelled in the association management profession and those who inspire individuals and students to consider careers in the association management profession.
Dzierzawski has a 32-year tenure with the MACPA – nine years serving at the helm. As president & CEO, she has:
• Fostered 40 percent growth in the Association’s budget and more than doubled Association reserves.
• Delivered a high quality and value-driven member experience, resulting in a remarkable 95% retention rate.
• Achieved significant legislative successes, including involvement in the successful passage of the most substantial accountancy law reform in more than a decade.
• Maximized exposure of the profession among K-12 students to promote accounting careers through a partnership with Junior Achievement that reached 13,000 K-8 students in 2005-2006 and 700 high school students.
Attributing her accomplishments to her supporters, she emphasized "you can achieve great success, but you don’t do it alone. I’ve been supported by dedicated members, great colleagues, terrific mentors, a talented staff, and my wonderful family and friends. Most importantly, I’ve had volunteer leaders who believe in me.”
“Peggy is among the most highly regarded executives of all 50 state CPA societies. She’s a thought leader who is frequently called upon by me and other leaders,” said Barry C. Melancon, CPA, President & CEO, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. “Peggy has been tapped for numerous national initiatives, including developing a vision (strategic direction) for the profession, increasing minorities in the profession and improving financial literacy for Americans.”
Dzierzawski earned her certified association executive designation in 1995; she was honored with MSAE’s Key Award in 1998; MSAE’s first Strategic Association Leader Award in 2002 and was named to Corp! Magazine’s Top Michigan Business Women in 2004. She is also a past recipient of the Institutes for Organizational Management Ralph A. McMullen Scholarship.
Dzierzawski is a past chair of the board for MSAE; holds the office of secretary for the Michigan Accountancy Foundation; a member on Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan’s Board; and a member on the Walsh College President’s Advisory Council.
