RSS SubTopics

-----------------------------

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is fast becoming a popular way to have the news and information you want brought directly to you. The MACPA updates its web site frequently with news and information. By subscribing to an RSS feed, you can automatically receive this information without having to surf the site. Plus you can centrally access news from other sources by establishing an RSS feed through many sources.

What is RSS?

RSS can stand for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. It's a simple way to deliver digital content that is frequently updated. It's formatted in XML which allows it to be shared across almost all technology platforms. RSS is commonly used for web site news, podcasts & blogs. Users subscribe to various RSS feeds from a parent web site and that information is fed to a web-based application called an RSS Reader or News.

Once you've chosen and installed a reader you can begin subscribing to and viewing feeds. Depending on the reader, the steps to subscribe can be different so be sure to review your reader's help documentation.

There are two quick and easy ways to start viewing MACPA feeds:

  • In Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 you can click any of the links or tags on the MACPA RSS Feeds page to begin viewing them in your browser. You can also click the RSS icon at the top of the browser to view any feeds on a page. (More)
  • If you signed up for a complimentary e-mail account; open SmarterMail and click on New RSS Feed under the RSS Feeds sidebar. Enter a name for the feed, paste in the URL and click Save. (Note: you can copy the URL of an RSS feed by right-clicking it and then selecting Copy Shortcut.) (More)
