American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Scholarships
The AICPA is the national professional organization for certified public accountants, with a membership of more than 350,000. In addition to the many services offered to members, the AICPA provides a number of programs to students. American Society of Women Accountants Educational Foundation Scholarships
The mission of the ASWAEF is to encourage and advance financial literacy, scholarships and life skills through programs of recognition, research and outreach for women in accounting and related fields. There are various scholarships available on the website. To receive a scholarship application, please contact an ASWA chapter in your area. Deadline for submissions will vary by chapter.
Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship
Through the Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship Program, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners supports the education of collegiate accounting and criminal justice students, around the globe, who may become Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs) in the future. Students who wish to apply for a scholarship but who are not acquainted with a Certified Fraud Examiner should either search the Local Chapter listing on our Web site or call the ACFE to receive the name of a representative of the nearest local ACFE Chapter. It is the responsibility of the applicant to meet with an ACFE Chapter or with a Certified Fraud Examiner in person if possible or by phone if necessary to receive a recommendation. Scholarships of $1,000 each and a one-year ACFE Student Associate membership are awarded annually.
Consortium for Graduate Study in Management
To increase the numbers of academically talented minority men and women in graduate business schools and in the workforce of corporate America, the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management annually recruits minorities with leadership skills and provides them with merit-based fellowships to pursue a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) Degree at one of the Consortium's member schools. The member schools are Indiana University, University of Michigan, New York University, University of North Carolina, University of Rochester, University of California - Berkeley, University of Southern California, University of Texas, University of Virginia, Washington University, and University of Wisconsin. The idea behind the program is to get these talented individuals into a high-quality, rigorous MBA program, enhance their business skills, and assist corporations in hiring these newly minted MBAs for America's corporate workforce. This is made possible through the financial support provided by the companies who make up the Consortium's corporate members.
Deloitte Foundation Doctoral Scholarships
Through its Doctoral Fellowship Program, Deloitte provides some of the much-needed financial support for a student writing a doctoral dissertation. Each year, the program—one of the oldest of its type—offers up to ten grants of $25,000 to help outstanding graduate students complete their doctoral degrees in accounting. Applications are reviewed by an independent selection committee, composed of three eminent accounting educators. Those selected are designated as Deloitte Fellows; each receives $5,000 during his or her final year of course work and $20,000 during the subsequent year of writing a dissertation. Since its inception in 1956, the program has assisted approximately 900 doctoral students to complete their dissertations and go on to teaching and research in accounting. Applications are available through the accounting department of the applicant's school. They are also available from the Deloitte Foundation. All applications are due to the Deloitte Foundation by October 15 of each year. Selected recipients are notified in writing in January.
Government Finance Officers Association
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) enjoys an excellent reputation among finance professionals in both the public and private sectors. As the major professional association serving the needs of over 13,000 elected and appointed state and local government officials and other finance practitioners, the GFOA provides top quality publications, training programs, services and products designed to enhance the skills and performance of those responsible for government finance policy and management. Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF)
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is the nation's leading Hispanic organization supporting higher education. Their mission is to double the rate of Hispanics earning a college degree to 18% by 2010. During its 30-year history, the HSF has awarded more than 73,000 scholarships totaling nearly $170 million to Latinos from all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands who have attended more than 1,700 colleges and universities. General eligibility requirements for HSF's scholarships are: be of Hispanic heritage; be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required on a 4.0 scale; must have applied for federal financial aid. Successful scholarship candidates are chosen on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, personal strengths and leadership skills. KPMG Foundation
African-American, Hispanic-American, and Native American accounting or information systems doctoral students in a full-time, accredited program are eligible for scholarships of up to $10,000 through the KPMG Foundation. Michigan Accountancy Foundation Fifth/Graduate Year Student Scholarship
The Michigan Accountancy Foundation (MAF) provides this scholarship program to assist current college accounting majors in funding their fifth/graduate year (accounting majors in their junior year are encouraged to apply). The MAF supports accounting education in an effort to lead students into the CPA profession. Through its mission, the MAF promotes excellence in accounting education while attracting the best and the brightest students to the profession. Established in 1961, the MAF is affiliated with The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA).
National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. Scholarship Program
The National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) is a national membership organization with the primary purpose of developing, encouraging, and serving as a resource for greater participation by African Americans and other minorities in the accounting profession. NABA's programs are designed to help strengthen the skills base for its student members, provide support to those professionals seeking higher levels of accomplishment, identify opportunities for minority students and professionals in the accounting profession, and encourage a greater number of African-American students to select accounting as their chosen field of study. NABA works actively with accounting firms, corporations, schools, and colleges in the placement of minority candidates for accounting positions. NABA makes student scholarships available at the national, regional, and local levels. Scholarships are awarded to deserving and successful college students to assist in furthering their education. More than $6 million has been awarded since NABA’s inception. There are various awards available through the association ranging from $1,000 - $6,000.
National Black MBA Association, Inc.
The National Black MBA Association, Inc. is a business organization that leads in the creation of economic and intellectual wealth for the African-American community. It offers scholarship opportunities for students at all levels of their college education.
National Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation
Accounting, taxation and financial planning affect the lives of every individual. Society must be assured of an adequate number of qualified and competent accounting and tax professionals. In an effort to overcome the increasing costs of higher education facing many aspiring accountants, the National Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation assists dedicated students who are committed to a career in accounting with financial assistance to support their education. In addition to its scholarship program, the Foundation supports professional development programs and educational activities to expand the body of knowledge within the practitioner community by means of an educational grant program.
