On December 19, 2005, Governor Jennifer Granholm signed a package of legislative bills that amend the Michigan Accountancy Act.

Major provisions of the legislative package include:

• Whistleblower protection for CPAs and individuals who work for CPAs
• Required enrollment in a peer review program for Michigan CPA firms and sole practitioners who perform attest services relied upon by third parties
• Enhanced enforcement of unlicensed activity or “copycat CPAs”
