The Michigan Accountancy Foundation Educators Symposium
Each fall, the Michigan Accountancy Foundation sponsors an event for college and university educators. This symposium provides the educators with the necessary tools to promote the accounting profession to their students. During this event, educators have the opportunity to network with peers as well as gain crucial knowledge on changes within the profession. They are invited to bring two of their top students to this full day session, which is funded by corporate donations and offered at no charge.
The 2009 Michigan Accountancy Foundation (MAF) Educators Symposium was held on Friday, October 30 at the VisTaTech Center in Livonia. Key leaders from around the country discussed the hottest issues affecting the profession. Jeffrey Hales from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) discussed current information regarding one of the most current issues facing the profession in the United States – International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Craig Mills, Vice President of Examinations for the AICPA, shared updates on the CPA exams with attendees. Deloitte’s National Campus Recruiting Leader, Scott McQuillan, also joined us to talk about national trends in campus recruiting.
