The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) gives Michigan high school students information and inspiration to become tomorrow’s business leaders. The High School Leaders Conferences are day-long events for students, teachers, principals and counselors held at universities across the state.
Because many CPAs say they made their career choice in high school, these insightful conferences provide students and educators with an accurate and realistic representation of what the profession is all about. From hunting down corporate fraud for the FBI to handling big deals in Hollywood, the CPA profession offers a myriad of opportunities for aspiring professionals.
Worldwide competition demands that high school students are exposed to the ever-changing world of business. At the MACPA High School Leaders Conference, local CPAs and other business leaders provide students with information about the world of business and accounting that will help guide them as they make choices on the academic path leading to a chosen profession.
As a Volunteer, What Will I do?
Share the story of your career with high school students. You will join peers from different career paths and teach students the various opportunities that a career in accounting and CPA certification offer.
Do I Qualify to Participate?
There are no requirements as to how many conferences a volunteer must participate in and no training sessions are required to participate in this program.
What is the Time Commitment of a High School Leaders Conference Volunteer?
Several High School Leaders Conferences are held during the winter in various cities throughout the state. You can volunteer for as many conferences as you wish. Each conference lasts from morning through mid-afternoon but you may come at the time that you are scheduled to speak and leave when you conclude your talk.
