MACPA Accounting Blitz

Join a team of CPAs that take over an elementary school for a day of business lessons. Since 2000, MACPA has partnered with Junior Achievement (JA) to host the MACPA Accounting Blitz. In the fall and spring of each school year, volunteers spend a day in the classroom teaching kindergarten through ninth grade students the principles of business. Accounting Blitzes reach students in communities across the state including Detroit, Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Flint, Saginaw and Lansing.
As a Volunteer, What Will I Do?
You will spend a day in the classroom teaching kindergarten through ninth grade students the basics of business. After a short training session, you will use lesson plans and materials prepared by Junior Achievement to teach smart business principles.
Do I Qualify to be a Volunteer?
You will be provided with all of the tools you need to be successful. Junior Achievement will give you materials and training for the students you will be teaching. You do not have to be a CPA to volunteer.
What is the Time Commitment of a Volunteer?
Each MACPA Accounting Blitz lasts for one school day. You can volunteer for one or more events if your schedule permits. New volunteers need to attend a short training session on a day prior to the event. Training sessions are arranged at convenient times and locations.

“It is all about making a difference. It doesn't’t matter how much money you make, how hard you work, how successful you become or how you display success, if you do not touch the life of another, you are not yet a success.”
- Gail Sparks Pitts, MACPA Board Chair-Elect and controller
at Oakland Community College
"To me, being a CPA does sound like a fun job. You get to take care of people's money and I love working with money."
- Latoya Riley, a 5th grader at Bellevue Elementary
